Finding Your Nail Size...

To begin, you'll need:

  • Tape measure or scotch tape (sticky tape)

  • Ruler (or if you don't have a ruler print one here)

  • A pen or marker

I'm going to try and explain how to read a measuring tape or ruler as simply as possible for those who don't remember how or have never learned (see figure 1. below & instructions to the right).

If you already know how to do this you can skip this part!!!

If anything is unclear you can contact me  and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

Measuring Tape Instructions:

  1. Stretch the measuring tape across the widest part of your nail (usually around the middle on the pink part see figure C)

  2. Press your finger onto a hard surface and use your other fingers to hold down the tape

  3. Use your other hand to put a mark where the nail meets the skin (please see figure D)

  4. Repeat this process on all 10 Fingers (each finger can vary slightly so best to measure all of them incase)

  5. Write down each measurement either in CM or MM (my nail is 1.2cm or 12mm, see figure E) and also indicate if it's the Left or Right hand

Scotch Tape or Sticky Tape or Strip of paper Instructions:

  1. Tear off a piece of tape about 1 inch long or use strip of paper

  2. Stick over the widest part of your nail (usually around the middle on the pink part, see figure F)

  3. Using a pen mark the edges where your nail meets the skin (see figure G & H)

  4. Peel off the tape and place it on a white surface then use your ruler or printed ruler to get the measurements (see figure I)

  5. Repeat this process for all 10 Fingers (each finger can vary slightly so best to measure all of them incase)

  6. Write down each measurement either in CM or MM (my nail is 1.2cm or 12mm, see figure I) and also indicate if it's the Left or Right hand

*If you measure inbetween lines please go up to the next line (better to be a little bigger than too small)

**If you have flatter nail beds it is best to add 1mm/0.1cm to your measurements (for very flat nail beds add 2mm/0.2cm)

  • See the numbers on the measuring tape?

  • Each number is equal to 1 centimetre (cm)

  • See how there are 10 little lines in between each number?

  • Each of those little lines is 1 millimetre (mm).

  • So that means 10mm is equal to 1cm.
